Given one of the points of this site is to share as I learn, I thought it might be useful to create a series of mini guides, starting with this walkthrough of how I bought my first $TRX, on the TRON chain.
Caveat, there will be alternatives at every step of the way. This is simply intended as one way of doing it – and far from an exhaustive guide.
Tricky to know where to pitch this in terms of a reader’s existing knowledge – so I’ll simply write for myself. Some will know less – many will know much more. But if I treat this as an aide memoire and adapt future pieces based on feedback, we can go from there, m’kay? M’kay.
My goal was to buy my first meme coins on Tron. I had a little Sol that I was willing to put to the task. So, the outcome I was looking for was $sol -> $sundog. Sounds easy right? Hmm.
The main issue of course is bridging between chains. Many of the usual decentralised exchanges – Relay or deBridge for example, don’t do this, yet. The site I eventually used, through recommendation, was BloFin.
Step 1 – Sign up with Blofin. Fairly self explanatory. However, whilst doing this, you may as well go ahead and do everything required at once – specifically set up 2FA, as you’ll need it to withdraw funds.

Step 2 – Once up and running, you’ll need to send funds to your “Funding Account” (which is actually the receiving wallet in this instance). In my case, that was Sol, but navigate to funding, identify the chain and currency you’d like to deposit and copy the receiving address.
Step 3 – Switch over to your actual funding wallet – the wallet you’re sending from – and, using the copied address, send the required funds. I chose to send a small test transaction of 0.1 SOL first, just to ensure I was comfortable with the process, as shown bottom right here. You’ll receive an email on receipt of the deposited funds.

Step 4 – Back to BloFin. Funds arrive and whatever was sent looks at first like it’s been converted to USDT. However, if you click into the funding wallet, it then shows the actual currency held. Now transfer those funds internally to your BloFin Spot wallet.
Step 5 – Double swap time. I found this to be the least intuitive step. Navigate to the Sell button and look for Sol/USDT pair. Hit sell. Then, back in the Spot wallet overview page, you’ll see the funds appear in USDT. Go back to the trade function and this time navigate to the desired currency to purchase – in this case $TRX and click buy. This is effectively the bridging process. Back to Spot wallet and you’ll see the $TRX.

Step 6 – Internally transfer $TRX from Spot back to Funding wallet within Blofin.
Step 7 – To withdraw, you’ll need a TRON wallet. I used the TronLink wallet, again on recommendation, which was easy and has all the usual extensions plus a good iOS mobile site (haven’t tested Android – but it’s also available). Once set up, copy your TronLink wallet address.

Step 8 – Back to BloFin and start the withdraw process, from your BloFin funding wallet to your tronlink wallet, going through the 2FA I mentioned earlier.
So that’s it. $sol to $TRX.
However, no respectable degen wants to just leave their funds sidelined, so two sites you’re going to want for meme coins on Tron are SunSwap and SunPump. I’m no meme coiner but even I’ve heard of $sundog, so personally that’s what I went for.

Obviously the offramp process is simply the reverse – but I’m told that it’s no less instant (as some Bridges to enforce time penalties of course).
As ever, your mileage may vary substantially and this is very, very far from Financial Advice. I’m simply sharing the process.
Hope that’s helped at least one person. To be honest, I needed a fair bit of hand holding and simply wanted to pass that on for others. Please let me know in comments and socials whether this is of any interest for future pieces…
