Apparently, I’m a Collector

The more people i meet in web3, the more i realise that many jpeg fanciers & metamask botherers were collectors long before they sniped their first grail.

I admit it – I’ve always been a collector, ever since my dad brought me back my first box of interesting looking matches as a kid.

It used to be comics. And vinyl. These days it’s sneakers and caps (and still vinyl, tbf – it’s been a minute since i last bought a comic but i do still read them – most recently Reckless by Brubaker & Phillips).

Is it a bit weird? Sure. But then aren’t all hobbies and passions, the closer you look?

I’d love to say that this is the entirely of my hat fetish. But my wife will tell you that i’ve got a range of NFL beanies fit to rival that of the Fanatic homepage on Thanksgiving.

At least i’ve been consistent. One of my oldest possessions is a Stüssy beanie which is somewhere around 35 years young. It’s about as battered as i am tbh (time is not kind to elasticity), but it’s hanging in there, just.

In any case, turns out that collecting x early-stage tech x meeting interesting people x learning is something that i quite enjoy.

Kinda makes a lot of sense now that i come to think about it…
